Key Events Dublin Autumn Series

The Dublin 1720 Fleet are planning an Autumn Series in Dun Laoghaire next season. This will run on Sundays from the 24th September to 15th October 2006. The objective is to run 3 or 4 short windward/leeward courses each Sunday in Dublin Bay. The event is being hosted by the National Yacht Club and sponsored by Key Events Ltd. Dry sailing is available to all entrants.

There were 12 1720 entries to this years Autumn Series run by Howth Yacht Club in North County Dublin. It was a very successful event with some close racing where all boats used the Club Rig. The runaway leaders in the series were Colin Galavan in Lemon and Adam Winkelmann in Yoke who shared 1st or 2nd in every race. Lemon eventually took the series overall by just one point.

The decision to return to Dun Laoghaire for an Autumn Series in 2006 is based on the fact that it offers up to four exclusively w/l races per day which ought to keep the racing tighter. But primarily the reason is that the majority of the Dublin 1720 Fleet are now Dun Laoghaire based.
